Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Sunday (31 March) held the third Akwasidae festival at the Manhyia Palace , graced by his wife, Lady Julia and their children.
The festival was joined by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council led by Simon Osei Mensah; CEO of Jilf Health Services, Dr Albert Addai and his family; and founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor.
British politician Lord Paul Boateng and his spouse, Lady Janet Boateng; second-hand cloth dealers at Ashtown and Kejetia; students of Alexandra Park School in UK; and courtier Baffour Adu also joined to pay homage to Otumfuo.
The Akwasidae Festival (alternate, Akwasiadae) is celebrated by the Ashanti people and chiefs in Ashanti, as well as the Ashanti diaspora. The festival is celebrated on a Sunday, once every six weeks.
